Mr. Enter's Notebook: The Splinter by MrEnter Mr. Enter's Notebook: The Splinter by MrEnter
Review here:…

Now it's time for me to revisit all of the old episodes that I've done, and this should show how these things should be filled out. Yes, "The Splinter" only scores an 8/10 on the Gross-Out scale with me. What could possibly top it? Who knows.

I'm just glad this isn't a Mega Babies episode.

Oh wait, I just made myself sick.

the only episode I can think of in any show that disgusts me more than this is Rise of the Zitboy from Invader Zim.

I too once thought this episode was horrible because it was so disgusting. Now its just bad because it's boring. The Angry Beavers did a more interesting splinter plot in 'Muscular Beaver 2).

Low budget values?

AUUGHHH This episode TERRIFIED me as a little kid to the point where I was CRYING.

The part when the splinter when into spongebob's thumb is slow motion was VERY cringe-worthy to me but apart form that I wasn't grosssed out by anything else

Is anyone else just disturbed by the title card

I can see why you'd wanna review this one twice!

There's a question I gotta ask and it's, why in the world did the writers think this episode was a good idea? My only theory is that they wanted the viewers too feel the sponge's pain but, they failed and made us feel uncomfortable and grossed out if anything. Then the worthless starfish comes out only to make things and gross us out some more. I'd say when the splinter finally came out was the worse part of the episode, with the puss and such. Not to mention, the ending is just a slap in the face to Squidward but, he's suffered worse...much worse. Maybe this would be entertaining to some adults, SOME! But, I think most wouldn't even bother with this. And since this was supposed to be aimed for kids, it fails all the more. Overall, I recommend that everyone stays away from this.

This was BORING. "Adult Party Cartoon", "That's My Boy", and "Mega Babies" were more disgusting!

What is "That's My Boy"?

A Happy Maddison movie that jokes about child molestation, neglectful parents, incest, and gerontophillia

From 33 points to 40 technically means 11th place on Year 1 Worst Episodes Reviewed.

No, the episode order isn't judged completely by points.
CobaltGameMixer676 Featured By Owner Jul 21, 2015
Don't the points mean how much he dislikes the episode?

I think the "writers" (amazingly enough, Richard Pursel isn't one of them) wanted to make an episode the viewer could relate to, but completely missed what the problem was with it.
Ben12066 Featured By Owner Sep 25, 2014
Adventure Time did this plot much better. For one, in that episode, we couldn't see the splinter outside from a closeup, and two, it was a small plot device rather than the entire plot!

Wait... now that you've revised this, what would your Top 10 Worst SpongeBob episodes list look like now?

I remember how I used to change the channel whenever this episode came on....

Well, guess we know now... Looking at you, Mega Babies.
JakeAnderson733 Featured By Owner Jul 1, 2014
As bad as this episode is, are you sure there is any character derailment. I mean, Patrick has been as bad as he was here since season 4... and no other person's character was harmed here. Heck, I'd say it improved SpongeBob's character, because he's been a jerk before this episode and this one put him back in his original personality (even though every trait is exaggerated... but at least it's every trait and not just one). No one is a jerk in a way that they haven't been a jerk prior. It's the gross out and bad writing that make this suck.
Ideaguy1998 Featured By Owner Jul 21, 2014
Maybe this episode would've been good if Spongebob's pain wasn't realistic and the scenery censored the splinter and puss.
JakeAnderson733 Featured By Owner Jul 21, 2014
I hate the episode too, I'm just saying that there's no reason that "character derailment" is at a 3... unless we count Patrick, but his character was already just as terrible before as then.

Oh boy. Another mediocre gross out episode. Sigh.
WDGHK Featured By Owner Mar 23, 2014
I will start of by saying no I didn’t find the imagery in this episode nauseating, nor in any other episode(including the toe nail scene in House Fancy),but mostly because I’m not squeamish,I can defiantly see why this episode would make people vomit their lunch out,I never understood the appeal of gross out humor,it baffles me how this episode got past the censors or It didn’t get banned from airing. And lets not forget how this episode would traumatize its target audience kids.

Note Squidwards fainting when Spongebob revels his swollen, puss dripping thumb to Mr.Krabs, pretty much sums up the audiences reaction.

This episode never make me vomit, probably because by brother use to have a splinter like SpongeBob in this episodes.

It's like "The Suds" without any of the good stuff and was disgusting.

This is nothing like The Splinter.

In my opinion, "A Bird In The Hoof" wasn't exactly trying to be cruel to Fluttershy, she was at least trying to help the bird get better. I'd watch that episode over... Whatever the heck this is.
XxSilverTheHedgehog Featured By Owner Dec 25, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
get this..My friend said when her cousins came to visit, they were laughing there heads off at the splinter..but weren't laughing at all to the episode Chocolate With Nuts....WTF????
TurboPebble Featured By Owner May 2, 2014
I think they like seeing SpongeBob suffer, as opposed to him selling Chocolate, The Splinter has no comedy, only cringe-inducing pain.
