Not to step on your toes Engikirby , but I believe it was an analogy to the Silver Age of comics, and how it all came crashing down at the start of the Bronze age. Stuff like the death of Jason Todd, Green Arrow's sidekick being a druggie, and more serious storylines replaced the campy nonsensical adventures of aliens, ridiculous villains, and brightly colored spandex.

I personally see this episode as a Reconstruction of the Golden Age of comics since it points out the racism and sexism in the era, but nevertheless, still portrays the Justice Guild as heroes are willing to lay down their lives for justice.

At least they tried to be serious. Penguin didn't squak and Joker didn't say boner.

Personally, I am glad we killed off the camp.
